PREHISTORIC WEAPONS

PREHISTORIC WEAPONS

What is the history of weapons? Where did it all start? What did we do with them? Well, we began using weapons all the way back in the Stone Age, where the cavemen would use rocks as a way to attack and defend.

Every area used a different weapon. In Ancient Egypt they made strategically-advantageous alliances, which allowed them to remain free from enemy attacks, and they used many chariots in attacks, where two horses would pull it, while there were two soldiers on top with arrows.

In China, they would put a firecracker on the tip of an arrow or spear, and when it would come into contact with the enemy, they would explode.

The Romans and the Greeks (390 B.C.E) were allies but they each still had their own array of weapons. The Ancient Greeks, were fond of the Trident, and they would use it strategically. They had net fighters that would wait above the enemy, and trap him when the right time came. They would later kill him with the trident.

But let’s go back in time a bit: before the Bronze age, Copper was the only known metal to man. It was revolutionary. It was stronger, and more usable than wood stone, and you could use it for knives, and spears. But then the Bronze Age came, and then the battles began. China would use it extensively for helmets, shields, and bronze body armor. They could build better walls, with the stability of it, and they began building up their towns to the way that we know it today.

LIST OF WEAPONS:

A Hand Axe: In the stone age they used a shard rock, but as we evolved it became easier to use. It was a sharp peice of metal, with a wooden handle.

A Spear: A Spear was a wooden peice of wood with a sharp rock on the top. They would throw it at an enemy.

The Bow and Arrow: It had a bent peice of wood, with a string down the middle. The would pull the arrow againts the string and then let go. All the pressure that built up would make the arriw fly.
